Amy joined Whetstone when she was just 5 years old!
Her “apprenticeship” with the group encouraged her to study Drama at university. This is where she met her husband Bob, who moved to Leicester and inevitably also joined the group. Amy is the theatre programmer/producer at
The Y Theatre in Leicester and is also the Artistic Director of the UK version of 14/48: the world's quickest theatre festival. Amy was extremely happy to be returning to Whetstone to perform in the production of Steel Magnolias.
In 2013, Amy and her husband Bob were bless with a beautiful daughter Elsie.
Ben is a Forest School Educator & Specialist from Leicestershire.
Ben has appeared in many productions over the years, most notably in ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ for his portrayal of Luther. There are lots of favourites for Ben, but his top three would be ‘Allo Allo’ playing Gruber, ‘A Christmas Carol’ playing young Ebenezer and ‘Seperate Tables’ playing Charles.
In 2018, he directed his first production ‘The Wizard of Oz’.
Ben enjoys all the fun and laughter that each production brings! He is also a regular with the Murder Mystery Gang helping to fund raise for charities.
Ben is a committee member, serving as the marketing officer for our group, and creating the newly designed programmes. Ben created Whetstone Drama’s online presence which shows off all that the group has to offer.
Bernard is a founding member of Whetstone Drama Group and can still be seen treading the boards today in many productions, most recently playing Scrooge in ‘A Christmas Carol’ and our Murder Mysteries.
Bernard has a fantastic sense of humour and makes the drama group a warm and funny environment to be in. Bernard can be seen welcoming our faithful followers on Front of House selling our programmes at every production.
He is the grandfather of Christopher who is currently securing auditions in London's West end. Bernard is married to Jean who can still be seen treading the boards in the Murder Mysteries and on Front of House.
Carl has been a member of Whetstone since 1988 and has appeared in around 80 productions.
Carl has mentioned several times that he likes to think he isn’t typecast.
He enjoys playing comedy roles, he sings and he really enjoys the
‘ serious stuff ’ equally.
Carl has been voted twice
‘ Best Actor ‘. He considers himself very lucky to have played such a diverse range of roles.
Carl is a long serving committee member and has recently became the Chair of the committee.
