Kaila is a primary school Deputy Head teacher from Leicestershire, who joined the group several years ago. Kaila believes she was tricked onto stage and afterwards it all went downhill from there. Kaila has now appeared in several productions. Kaila’s most notably production is ‘ Carries War ’ portraying Hebzibah Green. Kaila enjoys the fun and laughter we have in rehearsals and can be very mischievous. In Kaila’s spare time she can be found walking her dogs through the fields and working on her garden.
Karen joined Whetstone Drama in the winter of 2019, for the Christmas Variety Show. Karen enjoyed all the fun and the laughter at rehearsals and during the show nights. In her spare time, Karen can be found researching anything related to the human body and alternative therapies and enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and going on adventure holidays. Karen is excited and eager to get stuck into the next production. Keep an eye out for her in the future.
Kate is a primary school teacher in a local school and has been with Whetstone Drama since 2016, but she did perform with us back in 2012 for the 50th Anniversary production “Fiddler on The Roof”. Kate also enjoys taking part in the Murder Mystery productions, seeing different village halls and community centres around Leicestershire. Kate is also a member of Leicester Drama Society having been so for over 20 years, and taken parts in countless productions. Kate is a life long supporter of Leicester City Football Club!
Louisa is a primary school teacher from Leicestershire, who joined the group several years ago.
She was tricked onto the stage with false promises of at just walking onstage in a pretty dress and it all went downhill from there. Louisa has now appeared in several productions, most notably in ‘ The Corn Is Green ’ and she enjoys the fun and laughter that they bring!
In her spare time can be found down Welford Road supporting The Leicester Tigers.

Mel recently performed in his 80th production with Whetstone Drama, is looking forward to next 80… Mel is an all -rounder, he acts, and most recently directs and is also a long-time member of the committee. Mel made is directing debut with ‘ Educating Rita which won several awards. Most recently his play ‘ The Blitz Club ’, was performed by Whetstone Drama. Mel shares the stage with his wife Sue and their two daughters. Mel has several favourite productions, but there are to many to mention. In his spare time he can be found enjoying time with his grandchildren and writing poetry.

Nicky joined the group in 2017 for the production of Separate Tables, after a few years break from acting. Nicky has been singing and acting for many years in shows across Leicestershire ( IDOLS, LOPS and Lutterworth. ) She enjoys performing comedy and loved her role in ‘ Who Goes Bare? ’. Nicky is in the Murder Mystery Group raising money for local charities. Alongside the singing and acting, Nicky enjoys working with properties and costumes too.
